My Story

A tale of Berkshire Farm Girl and her journey

My journey

Hello, my name is Eleanor, I’m 24, and although I’m not originally from a farming background, the countryside has shaped who I am today. From a young age, I found myself drawn to farming. At just eight years old, I was selling my own chicken eggs and small bags of hay and straw.

At the age of 16, I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to take my tractor test and work on my stepfather’s arable farm, Rookery Farms, which has been running for over 150 years.

Coming into agriculture from the outside made me realise how much of a gap exists between the public and the farming community.

That understanding became the foundation of Berkshire Farm Girl a journey I’ve been on for eight years now. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to share my experiences with a wider audience, from writing for Newbury’s Out n About Magazine to being featured in Farmers Weekly and BBC Countryfile and now launching my own YouTube channel, where I’ve documented harvests both here in the UK and in the United States, including completing the 2,000‑mile harvest across many states.
